FCW Insider: Hearing about the Mars rovers

I have mentioned many times before that I'm a . I love these critters, who were supposed to be trekking around Mars for 90 days but have been there for about four years. That is largely because of I gave my father-in-law a copy of Squyres book,

Mars rover groupie Steven Squyres, a professor at Cornell University and the person who was the program manager of those amazing little Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity. And, I mentioned that Squyres is one of the keynote speakers at the FOSE trade show.

Squyres was on Federal News Radio Monday talking about the rovers. The money quote: There is more technology in your cell phone then are in the Mars rovers. It is a fun listen. You can hear it here [.wma file].

Yes, just a reminder that FOSE is owned and operated by the 1105 Government Information Group, which also owns Federal Computer Week and FCW.com.

"Roving Mars," for Christmas, which he read voraciously and loved. I'm pretty sure my father-in-law will be in the front row of Squyres keynote... and looking to get his well-read book signed.

Other radio items:

* I was on WFED earlier talking about the court decision late Friday allowing the lawsuit against HSPD-12 to move forward. As I pointed out, this is not the final chapter in this case. It merely allows the case to move forward. Hear that discussion here [.wma].

* Yesterday, I made passing mention of the FishbowlDC blog. Well, our friend, Adam Tuss, who does the FCW radio show on Federal News Radio, made FishbowlDC yesterday.

WTOP Sprawl and Crawl reporter Adam Tuss recently lost a bet over which team would have the better record, Tuss's Hometown Eagles or the Skins.
He lost and had to wear the helmet all day.

Don't miss the picture. I don't think Mr. Tuss will be taking bets any more. Just a guess.
