The Senate failed to pass the Wired for Health Care Quality Act by unanimous consent yesterday, although leaders of both parties pushed hard for passage, according to a report by Government Health IT.
The Wired for Health Care Quality Act would create a series of funding mechanisms that would encourage health care professionals to purchase systems for electronic medical records and other clinical applications. The bill also would close a loophole that allows health care to provide information about patients and their ailments to vendors without the patient’s consent.
