Federal 100 winner: Mary McCaffery

McCaffery helped EPA and the federal government take a big step into the Web 2.0 world.

She took a lead role in EPA's National Dialogue on Access to Environmental Information, which used the Web to solicit public input on how to make information more widely available. It was part of the National Academy of Public Administration’s Collaboration Project.

“Mary was responsible for getting the federal community engaged, organized, active and involved in understanding the opportunities and challenges for Web 2.0 in government processes,” said Molly O’Neill, former assistant administrator and CIO at EPA. “Mary is a true leader in government technology. A self-described non-techie, her value has been understanding and communicating the business value for how technology supports agency missions.”
