Hathaway played a key role in building consensus among various stakeholders involved in developing national cybersecurity initiatives. She is senior adviser to the director of national intelligence and chairwoman of the National Cyber Study Group, a senior-level interagency organization that helped develop the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI).
Hathaway was appointed director of the Joint Interagency Cyber Task Force, which coordinates and monitors the implementation of CNCI recommendations. Established by presidential order, the initiative is intended to substantially improve the country’s ability to defend and manage its critical cyber infrastructure.
“Her tireless advocacy for consensus facilitated both uniformity and inclusion with and between all program stakeholders,” said Bill Vajda, senior adviser at the Office of Management and Budget’s Office of E-Government and Information Technology.
