DISA Director As Cyber Deputy?
I'm picking up medium strength signals that the director of the Defense Information Systems Agency - currently Army Lt. Gen. Carroll Pollett - will serve as the deputy director of the new U.S. Cyber Command, which goes into business on Oct. 1.

This makes sense as the DISA director already serves as the director of Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations, which currently handles the cyber defense role that will be taken over by the new command. DISA also runs the Defense Department Global Information Grid -- it makes sense for the guy or gal who runs the Grid to have a key position in the Cyber Command.
DISA has geography on its side as well - the agency will complete its move in 2011 from its Arlington, Va., HQ to Ft. Meade, Md., home of the cyber command, making for a very short commute between the two commands.
Remember, at times this is a gossip and rumor column.
