OPM Stops Projecting Retirements

FederalNewsRadio.com reports that the Office of Personnel Management will no longer project the retirements of federal employees, largely because previous predictions have not held up.

As of 2006, for example, 59,269 agency workers were expected to leave government, but only 57,649 eventually retired, OPM said. Researchers are also finding that workers across all sectors are staying in their jobs longer, in part because of the economic downturn, the article states.
