Job Offers from the Heart
Last Friday, I asked your help in finding a Web design job for Erick Gonzalez, a former Navy corpsman who served two tours with the Marines in Iraq who ended up homeless in Washington, one of the 130,000 homeless veterans in this country.
Last Friday, I asked your help in finding a Web design job for Erick Gonzalez, a former Navy corpsman who served two tours with the Marines in Iraq who ended up homeless in Washington, one of the 130,000 homeless veterans nationwide.
So far, five folks have responded, two with what looks like solid job offers today and three who may have an opening in the future.
These offers came from people who work for organizations which make up the Washington community -- a federal agency, a non-profit group and three companies, all ready to answer a call for help.
Yes, Washington -- and by that I mean the federal government and all those who work for it, analyze it and on occasion bash it -- is a community that in this instance rallied to care for one veteran who needed help.
I have forwarded the job offers to Erick, and will let you know what transpires.
It would be fitting if something happened this week, when we honor all vets on Veterans Day.
