Federal 100: David Fisher
Fisher took hands-on leadership of the Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI), an enterprise resource planning system that BTA implemented in less than a year. The Defense Department will use the system as a model for deploying standardized ERP systems.
That’s a completely new way for DOD to operate, said Christine Wenrich, a financial systems specialist at BTA. Separate departments typically have their own systems, and officials need to create integration layers for the systems to function with one another, which has led to numerous difficulties and failures.
Fisher "was the driving force in making sure the DAI succeeded the way it did,” Wenrich said. “You usually don’t get the agency director working on these kinds of projects.”
