Jim Knox
Director of Information Sharing, Knowledge and Records Management
Navy Department
Knox is the Navy’s go-to resource on knowledge management and information sharing.
In 2009, he provided support, consultation and workshops for commands that needed help implementing knowledge management. Knox also oversaw 30 post-deployment interviews with groups of sailors who left their units to deploy individually and Seabee battalions returning from overseas assignments. The key nuggets of information gleaned during that process were loaded into the Joint Lessons Learned Information System for use by everyone in the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command.
Robert Carey, chief information officer at the Navy Department, said Knox’s “deep understanding of the ... issues allows him to connect with sailors in a way that supports excellent fundamental learning.”
