Facebook publishes new page about Capitol Hill
Facebook starts a new page focused on sharing information on how its social networking tools are being used by members of Congress.
Facebook announced today it had created a new page on its Web site to highlight innovative uses of its site by members of Congress.
The “Congress on Facebook” page will list members' official Facebook pages, the company said. According to Facebook, more than 300 members use Facebook in an official capacity. As of late morning, almost 700 people had “liked” the new page.
“We hope this will encourage even more use of social technologies like Facebook by politicians and government agencies to interact with and serve their constituents," Tim Sparapani, Facebook's public policy director, said in a statement.
The company also runs a “Facebook and Government page” focused on how federal departments and agencies use the site. Agencies have launched more than 400 pages, the company said.
