New hiring process easier on federal jobseekers

President Obama on May 11 released a memorandum announcing changes to federal hiring processes that will make it easier and simpler for job candidates to apply for federal employment.

Key among the changes is the elimination of any dreaded KSA “knowledge, skill and abilities” essays from the initial stage of the application process, as well as implementation of a new procedure for providing applicants with periodic updates on the status of their applications.

Many applicants complain that the current process is confusing, complicated and time-consuming—and that their applications seem to just seem to disappear into the ether.
