Former AF Top Doc Lands Senior Defense Health Job

I'm picking up strong signals that George "Peach" Taylor, who served as the Air Force Surgeon General from 2002 to 2006, has landed a key job in the Military Health System as deputy assistant secretary of defense for force health protection and readiness, starting Monday, July 19.

After leaving the Air Force, Taylor worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers until February 2008 when Northrop Grumman hired him as to oversee its health IT biz, which included work on the Defense AHLTA electronic health record system.

In his new job, I'm told Taylor will oversee work on development of battlefield health IT systems.

I'm told that the deputy SES job Taylor has landed amounts to a consolation prize, as he had put a bid in for the Defense top doc job.

That slot will go to Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Jonathan Woodson, nominated by President Obama this April, but still pending confirmation but the Senate.
