GovLoop has announced the winners of a recent video contest that asked participants to create a short and inspiring video on "Why are you the next generation of government?" It's no surprise that all of the winning entries included some focus on how technology and a flexible workplace are key to the next generation of government leaders.

"The next generation of government is a combination of social media and face-to-face communication; you can't have one without the other," said James Hanson of Connolly Works.

"I'm 26 years old, I'm married and I have a wonderful son who's eight months old, and I think I'm reflective of what my generation is. We're looking to have it all; we're looking to have balance," said Nichole Henley of the Navy Department.

"The next generation of government leadership needs to be innovative, creative and focused on technology," said Kristy Fifelski of the City of Reno.

The five winners each will receive a pass to the Next Generation of Government Summit, taking place July 6-7 at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, Va. The summit will bring together more than 200 emerging leaders to learn and share information about some of the current trends that are beginning to redefine the next generation of government.
