Pick the best White House app

Cast your vote in a White House contest to develop the best smartphone app for fighting childhood obesity.

A White House contest to develop the best smartphone app for fighting childhood obesity has entered its final phase -- the one where you come in. Voting begins today and is open until Aug. 14 for the best apps among the 95 finalists.

First Lady Michelle Obama launched the competition in March, challenging developers across the country to come up with apps geared to nutrition, exercise and other aspects of obesity. According to the White House blog, the creators of the best app, as determined by vote and a panel of judges, will win the $4,500 Popular Choice award and be honored at a White House event in September.
