Last week, I wrote about how federal workers could be in line for an average pay increase of 1.6 percent in 2012, based on figures released Friday by the Labor Department. Given the results of last night's midterm elections, however -- where Republicans took the majority of seats in the House and made significant inroads in the Senate -- it's unclear whether federal employees will see a pay raise.
For example, Republican proposals to freeze or cut federal pay, reduce the size of government, freeze hiring for nonsecurity-related jobs and fire federal workers who are delinquent taxpayers could be resurrected under the new leadership.
What is your reaction to Tuesday's election results, and how do you think it will impact your job over the next two years?
