Vets Need to Sign Up For Direct Deposit

The Veterans Affairs Department today reminded veterans who still receive their benefits the old fashioned way via paper check -- remember checks? -- to sign up for direct electronic deposit now, as the government will stop issuing paper checks to beneficiaries on Mar. 1, 2013.

I can't figure out why VA issued a heads up on Dec. 21, 2010, for something that will not happen for more than two years.

But maybe VA is worried that by 2013 a lot of us will be truly aged and befuddled and incapable of doing the direct deposit thing.
