House VA Panel's IT Expert
Freshman Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, not only landed a spot on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee -- he ended up as chairman of its powerful Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
That sure plays to Johnson's strengths. A retired career Air Force officer, he served on the Air Force CIO staff with the U.S. Special Operations Command. After active duty, he started up a couple IT companies.
This background should serve him well as leader of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, which spends a lot of time poking into VA IT projects.
Now, if I can only get someone from his office to return a call asking for an interview.
Note to Johnson's staff: There is a serious typo in the first sentence of his online bio, which refers to him as "Congressman Bill Johns." We all know that's wrong.
