The federal telework bill got a good nudge toward passage last year in the wake of a pair of big snow storms in the D.C. area.
Now, with new (and still emerging) telework policies under its belt, the Office of Personnel Management this winter appears to be making a high-profile effort to get ahead of weather emergencies by issuing unscheduled leave and unscheduled telework announcements (at least in the Capital region) way before the first snowflake hits the ground.
While the immediate Washington, D.C., area today dodged a bullet when an overnight ice-up failed to materialize, plenty of feds in dozens of states elsewhere around the country certainly must be giving telework a first try amid this monster snow storm that has paralyzed much of the country.
So, our question to them is: Are you teleworking? If so, how’s it going so far?
