The last piece of CDC’s strategy for providing the U.S. population with essential vaccines is now in place, thanks to Anjella Vargas-Rosales' management of a large and highly complex IT development.
The VTrckS system, which went live in December 2010, replaced a number of lumbering legacy systems and now allows for Web-based ordering of vaccines, which will strengthen the nation’s response to situations such as flu pandemics and provide an assured supply for child immunizations.
Vargas-Rosales had to bring all her management, communication and creative skills to bear to develop and complete a highly risky project. What’s more, she brought it in on time and within budget.
