A major proponent for strengthening the United States' posture in cyberspace, William Lynn has focused attention on defending military and commercial IT infrastructure.
He authored a comprehensive layered defense strategy to manage cyberspace threats, developed a strong partnership with the Homeland Security Department for sharing personnel and information to better coordinate operations and defense of the nation's IT infrastructure, and championed security enhancements and partnerships across industry and government.
He also drove the effective use of social media and other Web-based capabilities to improve the department's ability to effectively and securely share information. In addition, his leadership in business transformation and IT acquisition reform is profoundly improving the department's ability to deliver capabilities more rapidly.
