Many Docs Favor an Apple a Day
The iPads have it -- or so says a new survey gauging tablet preferences among health-care professionals.
Asked by Montreal-based Aptilon Corp. which tablet they would choose for professional use, 79 percent listed the iPad, 12 percent selected Windows PC-based tablets, and 9 percent chose Android-based tablets, according to the company's news release. Aptilon conducted the online survey of 341 U.S. health-care professionals in February.
Among respondents who already have an iPad, 59 percent said they use it for medical tasks, including receiving and reviewing updated information and completing paperwork.
Overall, 38 percent said they expect to have an iPad within the next year. Even more said they would use an iPad if an employer or a third party provided it.
"The research indicates that the Apple iPad is going to be an ever more important part of a [health-care professional's] daily life as a tool to enhance productivity and [remain] up to date with the latest developments in their medical field," says Mark Benthin, Aptilon's chief operating officer, in the news release.
Aptilon produces iPad and smartphone apps for the pharmaceutical industry.
