There's this guy named Charlie Sheen infesting all kind of media outlets with a message that he's a winner, though his antics make him look like a loser, especially when compared to some real and often anonymous winners:
- The crews of the Japanese CH-47 helicopter who risked radiation exposure to douse the reactor fire in Fukishima;
- The families of U.S troops who did not leave Japan when offered, with the first four charter flights leaving with empty seats;
- The crew of 50 Japanese reactor technicians who stayed on the job all week to try and control a nuclear meltdown - and we don't even know their names.
- The airmen and sailors at Misawa Air Base who hosted the first urban search and rescue crews deployed to Japan, while working on an installation that had limited power, heat and communications.
- The service family members in Japan who realized they did not live in an American base bubble and volunteered to help their neighbors outside the gates.
- And thousands of other vignettes of one person helping another in Japan this week - that's real winning.
