Yet Another PC Procurement at VA
In November 2010, I reported that the Veterans Affairs Department had put out an RFP to buy 600,000 PCs, a deal worth about $500 million.
Earlier this month, VA put out a request for information citing plans for its Commodity Enterprise Contract later this year to purchase desktop and laptop computers as well as whole bunch of other gadgets, such as servers, routers and storage gizmos.
The RFI did not specify quantities, but think huge.
So, what is the preferred VA vehicle to buy PCs? Hopefully Chief Information Officer Roger Baker will make this clear in his monthly press call late today, and I'll pass on what he says with an update tomorrow.
