Dice.com reports that Google is paying upwards of $150 million in retention bonuses to some mid-level managers to keep them from jumping to potential competitors. Google employees also saw a 10 percent across-the-board raise last year.

The Office of Personnel Management reported last year that in 2008, agencies paid out 970 incentives totaling $9.9 million to retain IT managers. The average incentive payment overall was $7,209, OPM reported.
