Musical Chairs at the Defense CIO Shop

I'm picking up strong signals that Teresa Takai, the Defense Department's chief information officer, has tapped Rear Adm. Janice Hamby , as her new deputy CIO.

Hamby currently serves as vice director for command, control, communications and computers at the Joint Staff, a position that will soon disappear under the departmental reorganization announced by Defense Secretary Robert Gates last September, so she definitely needs a new job.

No word yet though on the fate of the current Defense Deputy CIO, Rob Carey, who also served as the Navy CIO from 2006 through last September, followed by a brief stint as Director of Strategy and Policy for the Navy Cyber Command.
