Need a vacation?

According to a study from job-seeker website CareerBuilder, a lot of folks probably do.

A survey conducted for the firm by Harris Interactive indicated that 24 percent of full-time workers say they can’t afford to take a vacation this year — up from 21 percent last year. Another 12 percent said they aren’t going to take one this year, even though they can afford it.

Although the findings came from an online survey of 5,671 full-time nongovernment workers, we’ve seen plenty of comments on this blog in which feds have offered similar details on their own belt-tightening measures.

So now that we’ve hit Memorial Day, effectively the start of the summer vacation season, we're wondering about the vacation outlook in the federal realm. And we’re talking about vacations, not just taking a week of PTO to putter around the house.
