Los Alamos lab to restart supercomputers
After a wildfire forced the lab's closure, officials are preparing to restart the Cray and IBM supercomputers used for weapons research.
Los Alamos National Laboratory is set to reopen today, but it will take a few days to get the supercomputers used for weapons research operating, Bob Brewin writes in Nextgov.
A spokesman said the lab won't restart its Cray Cielo and IBM Roadrunner supercomputers until officials make sure ventilation and data storage systems are operating correctly. Meanwhile, all other IT systems are up and running, the article states.
The reopening comes several days after a huge wildfire forced the closure of the facility, which is northwest of Santa Fe, N.M.
