The Navy's 'Spartan Energy Warriors'
Energy efficiency, along with clean, green and alternative fuel sources, has emerged as a hot topic in the Pentagon, with all four military services embracing the idea.
The Navy will raise the energy efficiency ante next month when Secretary Ray Mabus kicks off the service's two day Energy Forum titled "Creating Spartan Energy Warriors: Our Competitive Advantage," on Oct. 13.
Hopefully this approach does not follow that of the original Spartans who fought in the nude, though that would really help whittle down the need for shipboard air conditioning.
Wanna-be energy warriors can register online for the forum, which will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, usually chilled to the temperature of a meat locker.
