Ever wondered how salaries at some of the nation's top technology companies stack up against your federal pay? TechCrunch reports that Gareth Jones, a customer solutions engineer at Google, has set up a new website called TechCompanyPay, which allows users to comprehensively search for the salaries various positions will pay at some of tech's top companies.
According to the database, the companies with the highest average salaries are:
- Twitter at $120,000
- Apple at $113,000
- LinkedIn at $112,000
- Facebook at $105,000
- Google at $105,000
- Microsoft at $96,000
- AOL at $93,000
More specifically, software engineers at Google in Washington, D.C. make an average of $83,000, while tech and computer specialists at Microsoft's D.C.-area offices earn an average salary of $115,000. Network engineers at Facebook's Palo Alto headquarters earn $124,750 on average, while data analysts at Twitter's San Francisco headquarters make an average of $130,000 per year, according to the database.
Jones notes on the website that the data may not reflect the salaries of actual people working at these companies, with most roles and titles being averaged to provide a guide. All data, he notes, was obtained via open sources of information on the Internet.
