VA official outlines 'ruthless' reductions in IT budget cut plan

Veterans Affairs Department information technology officials may be grabbing extra printers off desks, taking away desktops from employees who have laptops and eliminating mobile devices for some workers under advice from the VA’s internal “Ruthless Reductions Task Force,” according to a Federal News Radio news report on Oct. 19.

Stephen Warren, principal deputy assistant secretary for the VA’s Office of Information and Technology, provided a sneak peak into details about the internal task force recommendations in an interview with the online news publication.

VA officials have not released the task force’s report publicly, said Jo Schuda, a spokeswoman for the department. The report is internal for now, and probably will be for a couple more weeks, she said.
