Dakota Meyer's Social Beer with The President
As I reported in our news columns today, Marine Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer could not land a job with a small contractor to the Space Naval Warfare Systems Command because an employee of BAE Systems, another SPAWAR contractor, allegedly told a SPAWAR program manager that Meyer "had a problem related to drinking in a social setting."
That Program Manager in turn told the small contractor not to hire Meyer due to, among other things, his "activities in a social setting related to drinking," the Marine alleged in a suit filed this Monday.
All the above went down this June, three months before Meyer had a widely reported beer with the Commander-in-Chief on a patio outside the Oval Office on Sept. 14, the day before President Obama presented him with The Medal of Honor.
I can't think of a more high pressure social setting for a brew than this, and no one reported Meyer running amok, rending his garments or whatever else he allegedly does while drinking socially.
