NIST seeks data searchers

NIST seeks participants for annual data-mining conference.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has announced the data-mining tracks for this year's Text Retrieval Conference, reports InformationWeek.com.

Each year, TREC challenges participants to find better ways of retrieving information from large-scale data collections. This year's cycle, which begins in March, offers eight tracks: contextual suggestion, crowdsourcing, knowledge base acceleration, legal, medical records, microblog, session and web.

NIST is accepting applications through Feb. 22. Participants share their experiences at the workshop in November.
