Federal 100: Darlene S. Meskell

Darlene S. Meskell
Director of Intergovernmental Solutions
General Services Administration

The work: Crafting a memorandum of understanding between the United States, Mexico and Canada that paved the way for information sharing and collaboration on international projects.

The impact: The agreement has already resulted in initiatives to share information on food-borne disease outbreaks and stolen vehicles.

The nuts and bolts: Meskell worked closely with the State Department and the foreign ministries of the other countries to address potential legal, regulatory and financial obstacles to information sharing. As part of the agreement, trilateral initiatives will involve the IT and mission-delivery staffs of the agencies involved.
