Federal 100: David R. Bullock
David R. Bullock
Base Realignment and Closure Executive
Defense Information Systems Agency
The work: Smoothing DISA’s transition to its new state-of-the-art headquarters at Fort Meade, Md.
The impact: DISA was able to move more than 4,000 people and the necessary office equipment without compromising the services provided to its Defense Department customers.
The nuts and bolts: Bullock oversaw the design, construction, outfitting and operation of six buildings on the new 95-acre site. He also worked with local community organizations to provide DISA employees with information on housing, education and local attractions and launched a website to keep employees informed about the move — efforts that are credited with contributing to the higher-than-expected employee retention rate.
