The work: Serving as a model and a champion for charitable work in the federal IT community.

The impact: Although the community is no stranger to charitable giving, Barry created opportunities for her colleagues to pour their time and energy into deserving causes.

The nuts and bolts: In a recent trip to Nicaragua, she led a team of 19 people who mixed concrete and laid blocks for a school. It was the seventh such trip IT business leaders have taken to the country. A fundraiser for the project cleared more than $50,000.
