The impact: The plan will guide the organization’s efforts to address the needs of its numerous constituents in the federal IT community.

The nuts and bolts: As chairwoman of AFCEA International, Givans was involved in developing the organization’s first strategic plan four years ago and has been working diligently since then to make the new one — now in its final review stages — a reality. The planning sessions began in early 2011 and the draft plan emerged near the end of the year. Givans has a reputation for making sure that AFCEA receives a clear return on its investments.
