Federal 100: Peter J. Tseronis
Peter J. Tseronis
Chief Technology Officer
Energy Department
The work: Leading the process to test new technologies and ensure that successful ones are applied agencywide.
The impact: Tseronis introduced many innovations last year that are saving DOE money. His efforts are also transforming the role of the CTO in supporting agency missions.
The nuts and bolts: He collaborated with DOE’s Loan Programs Office to test and ultimately deploy an enterprise search tool in record time. The tool allows the office to quickly find documents that reside on a variety of platforms, saving more than $970,000 in labor costs annually. He also promoted the development of a state-of-the-art e-learning platform that will save DOE $2.8 million and is now in use at many other agencies.
