The impact: Levin’s ideas have improved the quality and timeliness of VA’s health care services, benefiting both the department and the veterans.

The nuts and bolts: The Blue Button initiative, which enables veterans to download their health records online, has made VA a national leader in advancing the patient’s role in managing his or her own health. Levin also came up with a system for fast tracking claims associated with exposure to Agent Orange.
