Navy Wants iPads for its New Network

The Navy is eyeing support for Apple iPad tablet computers on its $10 billion Next Generation Enterprise Network contract, slated for award this December, according to the work statement included in the draft request for proposals released last Friday.
The Navy, unlike the Air Force Air Mobility Command, did not want to support the equivalent of an iPad, whatever that means.
The Navy also wants the vendor or vendors who win the NGEN contract to also support iPhones, BlackBerrys and smartphones that run the Google Android operating system.
