ONC Updates Health IT Training
The changes were made based on feedback from community colleges, public users, subject-matter experts and advisory partners to the ONC HIT Workforce Curriculum Development Centers, which released the update.
Make way for health IT training version 3.0.
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has released its second update of its curriculum for training the nation's health IT workforce. The changes are intended to make the training more consistent, easier to use and more accessible for trainees with disabilities.
In a summary of the changes, ONC says the new curriculum:
- Is less redundant, includes new information about meaningful use of electronic health records, privacy and security; is more "experiential" than theoretical; and includes professional voice-overs for audio scripts.
- Includes alt-text descriptions, bulleted lists, columns, tables, and text boxes that are easier to view in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Standardizes and improves PowerPoint presentations, formatting and instructor's manuals; includes audio text transcripts and standardizes file names.
A more detailed explanation of the changes is available at the Workforce Curriculum Development Center page on the ONC website.
