Five Companies Win Humongous Army Sensor Contract
The Army yesterday awarded contracts with a total value of $1.8 billion to five companies to develop next generation night vision and sensor systems. The winners are Corbin Co., Alexandria, Va.; EOIR Technologies, Inc., Fredericksburg, Va.; BANC3, Inc., Princeton, N.J.; Fibertek, Inc., Herndon, Va.; and Manufacturing Techniques, Inc., Kilmarnock, Va.
The Warrior Enabling Broad Sensor effort aims to develop systems that can operate in mufti-spectral environments (a nifty way to describe various types of light) and sensors that can detect improvised explosive devices. The program will run for five years.
