The Navy's Next Generation Network Tour
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command still has not released the request for proposals for its $10 billion Next-Generation Enterprise Network once promised for last December, but it does have time to take its pre-proposal show on the road.
The Naval Enterprise Networks shop at SPAWAR, which manages the NGEN acquisition, said Wednesday it will conduct tours of a network operations center and large server farm in Norfolk, Va., for interested NGEN bidders who want to eyeball how the service runs networks today.
That's quite an offer -- I have toured many a server farm and find it almost as thrilling as reading the Federal Register.
SPAWAR says it will run the tours twice a day from April 23 through May 4, which makes me wonder if the RFP will not come out until after the tours end.
