VA Patient Wi-Fi One Hospital at a Time?

I reported in February that the Veterans Affairs Department planned to run a nationwide procurement for patient WiFi systems in all 152 of its hospitals later this year. Now it looks like this may occur one hospital at a time.

The VA hospital in Denver kicked off a patient WiFi procurement last Friday following a similar solicitation for patient WiFi services at the VA hospital in Augusta, Ga., in February.

The Denver procurement covers the main hospital in that city and clinics in Alamosa, Aurora, Burlington, Jewell Clinic, La Junta, Lamar, Lakewood and Pueblo. VA has this on a real speedy track, with a contract start date of Aug. 1.

The purpose of patient WiFi systems is to provide Internet access for vets and their families while in the hospital. How wonderful -- I can read procurement notices while hospitalized.
