Rats! Another Threat to Navy Networks

Navy Capt. Shawn Hendricks, Naval Enterprise Networks program manager at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command runs the Next-Generation Enterprise Network as well as SPAWAR's current networks -- jobs he described as mundane compared to previous assignments, such as running satellite programs...

But in an aside during a press briefing on NGEN today, Hendricks said running the Navy and Marine global network presents its own set of unique challenges -- such as the rats which gnaw on network cables in the Jacksonville, Fla., area, home of a Naval Air Station.

The rats, it seems have developed a taste for fiber optic cable. Maybe Hendricks should add a rat controls line item to the NGEN contract.
