DOD needs new tech for Asia, Panetta says
As the U.S. military shifts its focus to the Asia-Pacific region, it will need to develop new technologies, its leader says.
As the Defense Department's mission evolves, so do its technology needs, said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta aboard a plane heading for Singapore.
DOD needs to “invest in new technologies that will help us build a stronger power projection,” Panetta said, quoted in an article in Defense News.
Panetta said the American military is undergoing a “rebalancing” that will see a significant increase in America's presence in the Asia-Pacific region over the next 10 years, according to the article.
