Officials want to buy four new warships.

The Israeli defense establishment is looking to secure roughly $750 million in funding to purchase missile ships and deploy hundreds of soldiers to protect gas rigs in the Mediterranean Sea, according to international reports.

The Israeli navy is looking to add four new warships to its fleet, Haaretz reports. In addition to the warships, Israeli air force Shoval drones also will patrol the area.

The Navy is also considering deploying missile interceptors on the gas rigs to protect them from surface-to-surface missiles and anti-ship missiles, according to the Jerusalem Post.
