New Orleans Establishes ‘No Wake’ Road Rules
Issuing citations must be tricky.
Some lakes have “no wake” rules to keep powerboats from deluging swimmers, sailboats and canoes with water, but the city of New Orleans -- facing flooding from Hurricane Isaac -- has applied the no wake rules to its roads.
The city’s storm website warns motorists that the police department “will strictly enforce no-wake laws, which prohibit driving faster than 5 mph through streets with standing water.”
I wonder how many “no wake” tickets have been handed out -- and how hard it is to fight such a citation.
