VA Patient Wi-Fi in The Original Las Vegas

The Veterans Affairs Department network contracting office in Mesa, Ariz., put out a “sources sought” announcement last week for installation of wireless network service for patients and guests at hospitals and clinics in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, including my town, “The Original” Las Vegas, N.M.

VA has been running buys for patient W-Fi systems at its hospitals and clinics on an incremental basis with the planned Southwest procurement being the largest to date.

The procurement covers the following locations:

Arizona -- Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott, Mesa, Surprise, Globe, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Casa Grande, Safford, Green Valley, Anthem, Cottonwood, Flagstaff, Kingman and Lake Havasu City.

New Mexico -- Albuquerque, Clovis, Hobbs, Taos, Artesia, Santa Fe, Silver City, Truth or Consequences, Farmington, Raton, Gallup, Rio Rancho, Las Vegas and Espanola.

Texas -- El Paso, Amarillo, Big Spring, Lubbock, Abilene, Odessa, San Angelo, Stamford and Fort Stockton.

And, for some odd reason, Durango, Colo.

I can hardly wait to test-drive the patient Wi-Fi system at the Las Vegas clinic, a 10-minute walk from my house.
