Missing VA Weekly Claims Backlog Report Surfaces
Recently posted report shows progress.
Every week the Veterans Affairs Department posts on the Web details on its claims backlogs called the “Monday Morning Workload Reports.” But this week the report was missing in action well past noon on Tuesday.
VA spokesman Jo Schuda said the Sept. 24 claims backlog report was not posted Monday or early Tuesday due to a “procedural error,” and it surfaced shorty after I made my inquiry.
Disability claims as of Sept. 24 totaled 889,734, down 5,514 from 895,248 last week, the report showed. Of the remaining claims, 587,767 or 66.1 percent, had been pending in the system for more than 125 days. That’s a reduction of 5,025 stuck claims from last week.
This looks like progress.
