The Sea Service, the High Seas and Global Warming
The Navy intends to commission a study to determine future ocean levels.
As the sea service, the Navy has a serious interest in one of the most basic facts of its operating environment -- the level of the sea. As such, it intends to commission a study to determine future ocean levels.
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command plans to award a sole source contract to Moffatt & Nichol, Inc., an engineering firm in Long Beach, Calif., to “develop methodologies, scenarios and assessments of the physical effects and response to accelerated sea level rise at coastal DoD installations.”
This is quite artfully worded as it does not use the phrase “global warming,” which most folks believe is causing glaciers and polar ice caps to melt, causing the seas to rise.
